Sandbags on offer for Campbelltown residents

With heavy rainfall and damaging winds forecast for the next two days, sandbags are now available for pick-up by local residents, Campbelltown City Council announced this afternoon.

“The Bureau of Meteorology have issued a severe weather warning for damaging winds and heavy rainfall which may impact parts of the Local Government Area over the next two days,” Council said in a statement.

“Heavy rainfall and strong wind gusts are forecasts to develop today and overnight.

“Campbelltown residents can now pick up sandbags from Pembroke Park, Minto to help protect their properties from potential storm damage.”

SES staff will be onsite at Pembroke Park to assist with sandbag pick-ups until 9pm in the car park area, Council said.

It advised that residents are no longer able to pick up sandbags from the Campbelltown SES Unit depot.

“Residents living in low-lying areas are encouraged to take precautions to protect their properties.”

“People can call the NSW SES on 132 500 if they have experienced any property damage or are at risk of damage from flooding or fallen trees,” said Council.
