Police appeal for crossbow attack victim

Queensland Detectives are appealing for a woman to contact them in relation to an attempted murder investigation in Booval last month.

Police say that at around 4.40pm on September 22, Bundamba man, Benjamin Bourke, 25, entered an Aldi supermarket at Booval and allegedly discharged a compound bow hitting a 15-year-old girl.

She was struck in the hand and stomach and was taken to the Queensland Children’s Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Members of the public detained the man at the store until police arrived and took him into custody.

The witness (pictured) was walking along South Station Road prior to this incident, and police believe the compound bow may also have been discharged in her direction.

Police say they were alerted to the incident with reports of a man “discharging arrows” while walking down the street.

Police are urging the woman, or anyone who may know her identity, to contact them.

Mr Bourke has been charged with attempted murder, torture and being armed so as to cause fear.

He did not apply for bail in court last month and is expected to reappear this month.

Anyone with information about this incident should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
