Police hunt for mural vandal

Police are appealing for public assistance after a newly commissioned mural of former NSW Rural Fire Service Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons was defaced in Sydney’s inner-west last night.

Police say that between 8.55pm and 10.40pm on Monday, a man graffitied the mural at Erskineville railway station, “by spray painting writing across it”.

As inquiries continue, police have released CCTV of a man who they believe may be able to assist.

The man depicted is described as being aged in his early 20’s. He was wearing a black hooded jumper and face mask covering his head and face, tradesman style work pants and light-coloured work boots.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au.
