Greensborough Highway Patrol officers are appealing for witnesses and dashcam after a female cyclist was seriously injured during a collision in Preston last night.
It’s believed the cyclist was struck by a white Mazda SUV while travelling through a roundabout at the intersection of Dundas and Newcastle streets about 6.45pm.
“The cyclist, a 39-year-old Preston woman, sustained serious injuries during the incident and was transported to hospital for treatment,” Victoria Police said in a statement.
“The driver and sole occupant of the Mazda, an 85-year-old Thornbury man, was not injured and stopped at the scene to render assistance.”
“Officers are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the collision and are hoping to speak with more witnesses to the incident,” police said.
Investigators are especially keen to speak with the driver of a small white hatchback who was driving east along Dundas Street and travelled through the roundabout at the time of the collision as they may have witnessed it.
Anyone with information or dashcam is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or file a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
