The Australian Pensioners & Superannuants League Queensland is currently circulating a petition in favour of raising the Single Aged Pension.
It says the goal of the petition is to reduce financial burdens on recently widowed pensioners at a time when they are particularly vulnerable.
“Nearly a thousand signatures have been obtained so far, but many more are needed,” it said in a statement.
“Thank you for supporting this campaign by our organisation to assist older Australians in receiving equitable pension rates.”
