Pedestrian, 74, critical after being hit by car

NSW Police are appealing for public assistance after a 74-year-old pedestrian was hit by a car in Parramatta yesterday.

Police say that at around 8.10pm on Monday, emergency services were called to Victoria Road following reports a pedestrian had crossed the westbound lanes when he was hit by a white Mercedes E450.

“The driver of the Mercedes – a 57-year-old man – went to the assistance of the pedestrian – a 74-year-old man – before emergency services attended and the pedestrian was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics,” Police said.

The pedestrian was taken to Westmead Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

The driver of the Mercedes underwent a roadside breath test which returned a negative result. He was taken to Westmead Hospital for mandatory testing.

As inquiries into the incident continue, police are appealing for any witnesses, or anyone who may have dashcam footage, to come forward and contact Parramatta Police or Crime Stoppers.
