Kalbar drink driver, 61, more than five times over limit

Queensland Police have charged a 61-year-old Kalbar man following an alleged high-range drink driving offence on Saturday.

In a statement, Police said that at around 2.45pm on Saturday, officers intercepted a 2019 Kia Cerato in a hotel car park on George Street, subjecting the driver to a roadside breath test (RBT).

“The driver was subsequently transported to Boonah Station for further testing, where it is alleged he recorded a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.305 per cent – more than five times the legal limit,” QPS said.

The 61-year-old Kalbar man was charged with one count of driving a vehicle under the influence and had his licence suspended.

He has been issued with a Notice to Appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on 15 July.

The detection forms part of Operation Cold Snap a high visibility road safety operation running throughout the June/July school holidays.
