A 62-year-old pedestrian has died after being hit by a vehicle in the Hunter Valley this morning.
At around 6.30am, emergency services were called to Cessnock Road in Maitland following reports a male pedestrian had been hit by a truck.
Police say the driver of the truck – a 47-year-old man – immediately stopped and rendered assistance to the pedestrian; however, the 62-year-old man died at the scene.
The truck driver was uninjured and taken to Maitland Hospital for mandatory testing.
Inquiries are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
