Two men have been charged following a road rage incident in which a 67-year-old man was allegedly dragged out of his vehicle and assaulted at Greenacre yesterday.
Police say that at around 2.15pm on Monday, officers were called to the intersection of Roberts and Rawson Roads at Greenacre, following reports of a road-rage incident.
“Officers were told a Holden Commodore and a petrol tanker were involved in a minor collision while both vehicles were travelling north on Roberts Road,” NSW Police said in a statement.
“The driver of the Commodore and his passenger allegedly exited the vehicle and threw a glass bottle at the tanker before pulling the driver out of the cab and assaulting him.”
The injured tanker driver, aged 67, was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics.
The driver of the Commodore – a 34-year-old man – and his 26-year-old male passenger were arrested and taken to Auburn Police Station.
The older man was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of other(s) and refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today.
The younger man was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of other(s), destroy or damage property, possess/attempt to, prescribed restricted substance, and intentionally throw object at vehicle/vessel risk safety.
He was granted conditional bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on Thursday 21 October.
