NT Police appeal after child threatened in break-in

The Northern Territory Police Force is calling for information after an aggravated robbery in Alice Springs overnight in which a child was allegedly threatened by three men.

Police say that at 9.55pm, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received reports of the trio, armed with a blunt weapon, attempting to break into home on Hillside Gardens in Desert Springs.

“The offenders gained access through the front door and allegedly approached a 9-year-old child inside the property, demanding car keys while rummaging through drawers,” NT Police said in a statement.

“The child ran upstairs and alerted his mother who demanded the offenders leave. The offenders allegedly broke windows at the front of the residence with the blunt weapon before fleeing the scene with unknown items stolen.

“No injuries were reported to police and the offenders remain outstanding.”

Police are urging anyone with information about the incident, particular those in the area with CCTV or dash cam footage, to make contact on 131 444.
