Bodies recovered after Mid North Coast plane crash

The bodies of two men, aged 67 and 69, who died in a plane crash off the NSW Mid North Coast yesterday afternoon have now been recovered. 

Police say the men died at the scene, with the body of one man recovered from the plane yesterday and the body of the second man found this morning.

Both are yet to be formally identified.

“About 4.00pm on Saturday, emergency services responded to reports of a light aircraft crash in the ocean, approximately 1.5 kilometres south-east of Nambucca Heads,” NSW Police said in a statement.

“The pilot and passenger of the aircraft died at the scene and are yet to be formally identified.

“Officers from Mid North Coast Police District attended and with assistance of the Marine Area Command have commenced an investigation into the circumstance surrounding the incident.”

Police will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.
