Maryborough assault victim dies

A 51-year-old Maryborough man has passed away as a result of injuries sustained in an alleged serious assault in Maryborough last month.

Queensland Police allege that at around 10pm on November 24, an argument began between two men outside a pub on Ferry Street.

“A 20-year-old Tinana man allegedly stuck a 51-year-old Maryborough man in the head causing him to fall and hit his head on the pavement,” Police said in a statement today.

“The 51-year-old man was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on December 7.

“A 20-year-old Tinana man has had his charge upgraded to unlawful striking causing death and he is expected to appear at Maryborough Magistrates Court today.”
