Queensland Police have charged a man with murder after a 61-year-old man was found dead in his home at Stones Corner yesterday.
Officers were called to a unit in Vine Street at around 1am on Friday for a welfare check, where they found the man’s body.
“A crime scene is ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the man’s death,” Queensland Police said in a statement.
Investigators believe the death occurred as a result of an altercation in the unit around 10pm on the previous Friday, August 9th.
“Anyone who witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the area at the time or who may have information which could assist with investigations is urged to contact police.”
Detectives located and arrested a 40-year-old man on the Sunshine Coast just after midnight last night.
It will be alleged by police that the two men are known to each other.
The Sunshine Coast man has been charged with one count of murder and will appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday August 19th.
