Man charged with historical sex crimes

A 65-year-old man will appear in court today charged over the alleged historic sexual assault of a young boy in Sydney’s north west, more than 30 years ago.

In September last year, detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation into allegations of historic child sexual assault by a man in Sydney’s north west between 1985 and 1989.

Following extensive investigations, detectives arrested the man, 65, at his home near Burwood.

He was taken to Burwood Police Station and charged with three sexual assault offences.

Police will allege in court that the man sexually assaulted a boy – then aged between 10 and 14 – who was known to him, at various locations in Sydney’s north west between 1985 and 1989.

The man was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today.

Anyone with concerns about suspected child abuse or exploitation should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au.
