Man charged over pedestrian crash at Sydney airport

A minivan driver has been charged over a crash outside Sydney International Airport earlier today which left a 76-year-old man with serious injuries.

Police say that at around 6.40am, emergency services responded to reports of a pedestrian being hit by a minivan on a pedestrian crossing along Departure Plaza, Mascot, outside the International Airport.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the pedestrian at the scene before he was taken to St George Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The 74-year-old male driver of the vehicle – a Hyundai Staria – was taken to Mascot Police Station.

Following inquiries, he was charged with negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.

He has been granted conditional bail to appear at the Downing Centre Local Court on October 14th.
