A 52-year-old man has been charged with drink-driving after crashing a minibus into a parked police vehicle in the state’s north overnight.
Police say that at around 11.40pm on Wednesday, the man was driving a Mitsubishi minibus north of Wharf Street, Tweed Heads, with four passengers on board, when he crashed into a police vehicle that was parked outside the police station (pictured).
Officers from Tweed/Byron Police District heard the noise and ran outside to find the 52-year-old driver getting out of the bus with his passengers – one man and three women – who all escaped injury.
“The driver was breath tested at the scene and allegedly provided a positive reading. He was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station where he submitted a breath analysis reading of 0.065,” NSW Police said in a statement.
He was issued a Court Attendance Notice for low range PCA and negligent driving. He is due to appear in Tweed Heads Local Court on October 5.
