A man has been arrested following the death of a 77-year-old woman in Blackburn last night.
Police attended a home on Whitehorse Road just after 7pm to conduct a welfare check on the female occupant of the property, Victoria Police said in a statement today.
“The 77-year-old woman was located deceased inside the home,” police said.
“The exact cause of the woman’s death is yet to be determined however it is being treated as suspicious.”
A 49-year-old Blackburn man was arrested at the scene and remains in police custody.
It is believed both parties were known to each other and police say they are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident.
