Man, 94, dies in Lake Macquarie crash

A 94-year-old man has died following a multi-vehicle crash at Lake Macquarie yesterday.

Police say that shortly before midday on Wednesday, emergency services were called to the M1 Motorway, near George Booth Drive at Killingworth, following reports of a multi-vehicle crash.

“It’s understood a Honda Legend travelling northbound and a Pantec truck travelling southbound collided,” NSW Police said in a statement.

The Honda driver – a 94-year-old man – died at the scene.

“The truck driver – a 33-year-old man – was taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment to a suspected fractured leg. He also underwent mandatory testing,” Police said.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is underway.
