Man, 69, charged over fatal crash at Booyal

A 69-year-old NSW man has been charged by Queensland Police following a fatal two-vehicle traffic crash in Booyal yesterday.

It will be alleged by Police that at approximately 11.10am, a Ford Ranger was travelling north on the Bruce Highway, near Booyal Dallarnil Road, when it struck a motorbike.

“The motorbike rider, a 68-year-old Moranbah man, sustained critical injuries and was declared deceased at the scene,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

“The driver of the Ford Ranger, a 69-year-old NSW man, has been arrested and charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death and leaving the scene without obtaining help.”

He remains in custody and will appear in the Bundaberg Magistrates Court today.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who have relevant dashcam vision, is urged to contact police.
