The Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit is investigating after a 67-year-old man was critically injured in a single-vehicle traffic crash near Westwood yesterday afternoon.
Initial investigations indicate that just after 4pm on Saturday, a Mitsubishi Triton utility was travelling north along the Leichhardt Highway, approximately one kilometre from the Capricorn Highway, when it left the road and rolled.
“The passenger, a 67-year-old Westbrook man, sustained life-threatening head injuries and was airlifted to Rockhampton Hospital,” Queensland Police said in a statement.
The driver, a 65-year-old Westbrook woman, was transported with non-life-threatening injuries to Rockhampton Hospital.
Witnesses or anyone with information is urged to contact police.
