Man, 56, shot in hand by Police

A 56-year-old man has been shot in the hand by police after he produced a firearm at Flagstone this morning.

Police had been searching for the man after he made threats to harm other people known to him.

“Around 11.20am he was located in the street at Flagstone,” a Queensland Police spokesman said.

“As the male pulled into the driveway, the police approached the man. He’s exited the vehicle and produced a firearm. Police called on him to put the firearm down. He’s produced a firearm and has received a gunshot wound to the hand.

“Whether he’s pointed it at them is unclear. Police have reacted in accordance with their training and the threat has been subdued.

“The man sustained a non-life threatening injury to his hand and has been transported to hospital under police guard.

The spokesman said the Ethical Standards Command would now investigate the incident.

No police officers were injured during the incident.
