Man, 50, charged with $6,300 theft of baby formula

A 50-year-old man has been charged after allegedly stealing baby formula and other health products from retail chemists across Sydney’s inner western suburbs this month.

“Officers from the Proactive Crime Team at Burwood commenced an investigation following a series of retail thefts from chemists at Five Dock on November 10, Campsie on November 17, Ashfield on November 20, Burwood on November 23 and Earlwood on November 26,” NSW Police said in a statement.

“Following inquiries, investigators arrested a 50-year-old man on Flora Street, Sutherland about 11.00am yesterday.”

The man was taken to Sutherland Police Station and charged with five counts of theft from a retail store. Police will allege in Court the total value of baby formula and health products stolen was more than $6300.

The man was refused bail and is to appear at Parramatta Local Court today.
