UPDATE
A 68-year-old East Mackay woman has died following a fatal traffic crash on the Bruce Highway at Kuttabul on Saturday, December 28th.
The woman, who was a passenger in a Toyota Kluger involved in the crash, was initially transported to Mackay Base Hospital in critical condition; however, has since passed away from her injuries, Queensland Police confirmed today.
The driver of the Kluger, a 76-year-old East Mackay man, sustained critical injuries and was declared deceased at the scene.
The Forensic Crash Unit continues to investigate the circumstances of the incident and appeals to anyone who may have any relevant information or dashcam footage to come forward, Queensland Police said.

Queensland Police are investigating a fatal traffic crash on the Bruce Highway at Kuttabul that claimed the life of a 76-year-old man yesterday afternoon.
Police say their initial investigations indicate that at approximately 2.35pm, a Toyota Hilux utility heading northbound has come into contact with a southbound Chevrolet Silverado towing a caravan before then colliding with a southbound Toyota Kluger.
“The driver of the Kluger, a 76-year-old East Mackay man, sustained critical injuries and was subsequently declared deceased at the scene,” Queensland Police said in a statement.
The passenger of the Kluger, a 68-year-old East Mackay woman, was transported to Mackay Base Hospital in critical condition.
The driver of the Hilux, a 65-year-old Bloomsbury man, was transported to Mackay Base Hospital in a stable condition.
“The occupants of the Silverado sustained no physical injuries,” said Police.
