Financial Crimes Squad detectives have charged a 54-year-old female Department of Justice employee following an investigation into alleged unlawful access of restricted information.
Police say he woman is employed in a ‘community corrections’ position based in Kalgoorlie and it will be alleged between October 2020 and February 2021 she accessed information on four occasions which was not relating to her duties and which is subject of strict legislative controls.
“This included information relating to herself and three persons known to her,” WA Police said in a statement.
Staff from the Department of Justice’s Professional Standards Division referred the matter to WA Police Force for investigation.
Detectives from the Financial Crimes Squad arrested the employee and charged her with four counts of Unlawful Use of a Computer. She was due to appear in the Kalgoorlie Magistrates Court yesterday.
