Homicide squad called in following assault of 87-year-old man

A 56-year-old man and 45-year-old woman have been arrested and charged over the assault of an 87-year-old man in Coburg.

Police and emergency services were called to an address in Coburg following reports of an assault last night.

An 87-year-old man was located at a property on Reynard Street just before 11pm.

He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A Kurunjang man, 56, and Morwell woman, 45, were arrested at the scene.

“The pair remain in police custody and the exact circumstances surrounding the incident are still to be determined,” Victoria Police said in a statement today.

“It is believed all parties are known to each other.

“Detectives from the Homicide Squad are currently on scene assisting with the investigation.”
