Blue Mountains City Council is calling on local residents to help shape the first Plan of Management (PoM) and Masterplan for Murray Park in Wentworth Falls.
Located at the corner of Wentworth Street and Falls Road, Murray Park is a local sportsground with cricket nets, informal parking areas, and a mix of open space and bushland. It is a much-loved but underused park, and Council wants to ensure it meets the needs of the local community.
Mayor, Mark Greenhill, encouraged locals to share their views on this community space.
“This is your opportunity to tell us what Murray Park means to you, and how it could better meet your needs,” Mayor Greenhill said.
“Whether you visit the park for a walk, a casual game of cricket, or sports training, your insights will help shape the vision for the park’s future.”
Council has identified several opportunities to improve the park’s functionality and appeal.
“We know the oval and cricket nets are underused, that parking can be tight during busy periods, and that residents are looking for more dog-friendly spaces,” Mayor Greenhill said.
“Through this plan, we can explore ways to make better use of the space while protecting its natural character.”
The consultation survey is open until 25 August.
Council will also hold two in-person community consultation sessions on Wednesday, 6 August, 5pm-8pm at Wentworth Falls School of the Arts, and on Sunday, 10 August, 11am to 2pm at Murray Park, Wentworth Falls. No RSVP or booking needed.
Once all submissions have been received, they will be reviewed by Council and feed into a draft PoM and Masterplan, which will then be exhibited for further public feedback.
“This process is a great example of how Council works with the community to shape public spaces,” Mayor Greenhill said.
“Your voice matters, so please have your say.”
