A NSW Police employee and Special Constable has been charged following an alleged assault on a 62-year-old man in an Auburn supermarket yesterday.
The man reported to Police that he had been assaulted by a 34-year-old man and a 57-year-old woman following a verbal altercation at the supermarket checkout.
The 62-year-old man suffered minor injuries and sought medical treatment after the incident, NSW Police said in a statement.
The 34-year-old man – who is a current serving Special Constable attached to a specialist command, was served with a court attendance notice for the charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray. He will appear before Burwood Local Court on Thursday 4 September.
The 57-year-old woman is facing the same charges and is also due to appear before Burwood Local Court on 4 September.
NSW Police said the man’s employment status is under review.
