Police are appealing for public assistance to urgently help locate a 63-year-old man missing from Katoomba.
Lars Schothorst was last seen at a home on Cascade Street about 10pm last night.
A family member woke just before 5am today to find the front door open and Mr Schothorst missing.
Officers from Blue Mountains Police Area Command were notified and have commenced inquiries to locate him.
Police and family hold fears for Mr Schothorst’s welfare as he suffers from dementia and is unfamiliar with the area, having only recently moved there. He may appear confused or disorientated and may not respond to his name.
Mr Schothorst is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 180cm tall, of medium build, with short brown hair, and a greying beard.
He was last seen wearing a long sleeve red shirt over a blue t-shirt, blue trackpants but may not be wearing shoes.
