Police are investigating after a house fire in Sydney’s south this morning.
Police say that at around 4.15am today, emergency services were called to a home at Valley Way, Gymea Bay, following reports of a house fire.
NSW Fire and Rescue attended and extinguished the blaze, which had spread into nearby bushland.
The resident, a 57-year-old woman, was evacuated with her dog.
“The woman was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, before being taken to Sutherland Hospital for observation,” NSW Police said in a statement.
“Neighbouring residents on Valley Way and Matong Place were also evacuated as a precaution.
“Officers from Sutherland Shire Police Area Command established a crime scene and have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the blaze.”
Police say the fire is not being treated as suspicious.
