Griffith City Council has officially launched its Christmas Light and Merry Mailbox Competition.
This year, Council has partnered with local business, Soul Property Agents, to sponsor the competition, with prizes for Mayor’s Choice, People’s Choice and Merriest Mailbox, while bragging rights will go to the Best Street.
Griffith Mayor, Doug Curran is encouraging residents to register their homes for the popular competition as part of the Glow2680 program.
“I really want to see our community spirit shine this year, I encourage everyone to consider decorating their homes and mailboxes for the Christmas season,” said Mayor Curran.
“No matter how big or small your Christmas display is, I would encourage you to head to the Glow2680 website and register. We need houses to be registered or they may be missed and if you have gone to the effort to decorate your home, we want to acknowledge your efforts.
“The Merry Mailbox category ensures everyone can get involved by adding Christmas cheer on a smaller scale.
“I’d like to thank Soul Property Agents for their interest this year. It’s great to have this extremely positive business on board and I want to thank Nathan and Angelo especially.”
Nathan Thomas from Soul Property Agents said he was happy to be able to support such a wonderful Christmas event.
“We are really proud to be part of something that adds so much cheer to families in our community,” he said.
Council says a team of independent elves will be out and about in December to select the best lights. Mayor’s and People’s Choice will each take home $500 vouchers and the Merriest Mailbox will win a $100 voucher.
Entries close Monday 11 December 2023. An online interactive map will be provided so that residents and visitors can explore the lights during the festive season at their own pace.
You can register your home or mailbox online at www.glow2680.com.au.
