Victoria Police have charged an 88-year-old former police officer following an investigation into historical sexual assaults.
“The officer, who served between 1965 to 1975, has been charged with four counts of indecent assault and one count of gross indecency,” Victoria Police said in a statement today.
The charges follow an investigation into the sexual assault of a child between 1974 and 1979 which was reported to police in 2000.
The 88-year-old man, who was extradited from the United Kingdom in early December, is expected to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on December 21.
