A huge haul of lost property is set to be auctioned on behalf of Brisbane Airport, with all items selling unreserved and all proceeds being donated to charity.
More than 500 lots will go under the hammer on Sunday, November 6th at 10am in what is set to be a 10-hour online auction event.
“We are honoured to present the Brisbane Airport lost property auction to raise money for charity, in what is set to be the airport’s biggest auction to date breaking a record for being the largest single airport lost property auction as a result of COVID-19,” said Chief Operations Officer for Lloyds Auctions, Lee Hames.
“All proceeds will be donated directly to the Courier Mail’s Children fund to help Queensland children in need.”
Around 60,000 people pass through Brisbane Airport’s domestic and international terminals each day, with passengers leaving behind many weird, wonderful, and valuable items.
“While all efforts are made to return the belongings to their rightful owners, approximately two-thirds remain unclaimed after the standard holding period,” said Chief Executive Officer for Brisbane Airport Corporation, Gert-Jan de Graaff.
Items include a huge range of IT products from laptops to phones, iPad’s, Smart watches and more. Also on offer is a massive selection of jewellery, sporting goods, strollers, shoes, hoverboards and more.
“There are also three special lots up for grabs donated by the Brisbane airport including 12 months of free airport parking, an airport airside tour and airport signage,” said Mr Hames.
Another stand-out lot is a IWC Schaffhausen Top Gun Pilot watch (pictured) which retails between $10k and $30k.
“Bidders can expect to grab themselves some great bargains, there is something for everyone,” Mr Hames continued.
