Whether you’re passionate about planting, weeding or wildlife conservation, or you would like to learn more about local flora and fauna while meeting like-minded people, Bayside City Council would love to hear from you.
Volunteering for one of Council’s environmental Friends groups in Bayside offers the opportunity to make a tangible difference in preserving and enhancing local ecosystems, while connecting with a passionate community dedicated to protecting our natural environment.
Here’s what you can expect:
- joy of making a positive impact
- more facts to add to your repertoire about Bayside’s flora and fauna
- new like-minded friends
- knowledge that you have played a key role in protecting Bayside’s natural environment for future generations.
The Council currently has three ‘Friends’ groups in need of a convenor:
- Gramatan Avenue Heathland Sanctuary, Beaumaris
- Ricketts Point foreshore, Beaumaris
- Table Rock foreshore reserve, Beaumaris.
The convenor of each Friends group takes on these responsibilities:
- Cultivate inclusiveness and cohesion within the volunteer group
- Act as the main contact for enquiries
- Encourage the group to share their stories in Banksia Bulletin
- Be the liaison between Council, Citywide and the Friends group
- Participate in drafting an annual Action Plan for the reserve.
Express your interest in becoming a convenor for the Friends of Gramatan, Ricketts Point or Table Rock by contacting Anna Malone, Environmental Volunteer Support Officer via email to amalone@bayside.vic.gov.au or call 9599 4815.
Become a volunteer for any reserve by contacting the convenor.
