Baby lucky to survive fatal crash

A 56-year-old man has died and a baby has escaped serious injury in a single-vehicle crash in the NSW south-west yesterday.

Police say that at around 6.30pm last night, emergency services attended the Cobb Highway, approximately 12km south of Boorigal, after reports a car had rolled in a crash.

Officers attached to Murrumbidgee Police District, along with NSW Ambulance paramedics, State Emergency Services, and the Rural Fire Service, attended the scene.

Police believe the Mitsubishi Triton veered off the road, before rolling several times.

The driver, a 56-year-old man, died at the scene. His passenger, an 11-month-old child, was freed from the vehicle before being taken to Griffith Hospital with minor injuries.

Anyone with information about the crash, or has dashcam vision, is urged to called Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
