A new survey has revealed that Australians are prepared to “wear more clothes” and use home appliances less as they battle to kerb soaring electricity bills during the winter months.
The representative survey of 1,003 people conducted by product comparison company, Savvy, also showed that 43% of respondents had considered changing energy providers due to value for money concerns.
Of the respondents, 67% said they planned to “wear more clothes” and 42% would “use appliances less” to save on energy this winter.
Savvy Managing Director, Bill Tsouvalas said Australians should be vigilant in seeking out better electricity deals.
“Consumers hold the ultimate power even in times of inflation and rising prices – so be prepared to vote with your feet… or your wallet,” Mr Tsouvalas said.
The company’s findings come after electricity prices rose 141% in the last year and supply chain issues forced the Energy Market Operator to suspend the National Electricity Market last month.
