A great white shark estimated to be around five metres in length has been spotted by recreational fisherman off the coast of Bermagui on the NSW south coast.

A local fisherman told 2EC Mornings he thought the shark was a “big female…pushing five metres, I’d say”.

He said the shark had a large scar (pictured, below) on its head where it looked to have been bitten by another sea dweller.

“Which is scary in the thought that something would bite something that big,” he said.
