Gold Coast detectives are hopeful the announcement of a $250,000 reward will bring in new information to assist their investigation into the 2020 murder of bikie gang member, Shane Bowden, on the Gold Coast.
Shortly after midnight on October 12, last year Mr Bowden, then 48-years-old, was fatally shot in the garage of his residence at Cox Road at Pimpama.
As part of today’s announcement detectives are also releasing images of a machine pistol similar to the one (pictured) they believe was used in the murder.
South Eastern Regional Crime Coordinator, Detective Superintendent Brendan Smith said the reward was a substantial incentive for anyone with any information to come forward to assist police to solve the crime.
“We believe there are people out in the community who could have information about Shane’s murder,” Det Supt Smith said.
“We believe this was a targeted attack on him and there will be people who know of or have information about his murder. This is most definitely the time to come forward and tell us what you know.
“We are hoping the announcement of the Queensland Government’s reward of $250, 000 for information that leads to the conviction of the person, or persons, found to be responsible for Shane’s murder will bring in new leads for detectives.
“In addition to the reward, an appropriate indemnity from prosecution will be recommended for any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the crime, who first gives such information.
“Anyone with information is urged to consider the reward and come forward and speak to us now,” Det Supt Smith said.
