14-year-old arrested for indecent assault

Queensland Police have arrested a 14-year-old boy following an investigation into multiple incidents of wilful exposure and indecent assault at Helensvale in recent weeks.

“It will be alleged that around 3pm on the December 28, a boy approached a 39-year-old woman in the pedestrian tunnel connecting two shopping complexes beneath the Gold Coast Highway, where he exposed himself before grabbing the woman’s breast,” Queensland Police said in a statement today.

“It will be further alleged that around 12.10pm on January 8, the boy approached a 35-year-old woman in the same tunnel where he exposed himself before grabbing the woman on the buttocks.”

In two further alleged incidents, on January 6, Police say the boy approached three women – aged 41, 67 and 71 – in the pedestrian tunnel connecting two shopping complexes beneath the Gold Coast Highway, and exposed himself to the women.

Police say he also approached a 16-year-old girl in the same tunnel and committed the same act the following day.

Detectives arrested a boy at Helensvale this afternoon.

The 14-year-old Helensvale boy has been taken into custody and will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.
