A woman has been charged after allegedly coughing on a police officer in the state’s Murray River region.
Police say that just after 10.30pm yesterday, officers attached to Murray River Police District were conducting a welfare check at a home on Russell Street in Deniliquin.
“Upon arrival, a female resident allegedly became aggressive and verbally abusive towards police,” NSW Police said in a statement.
“The woman was given a warning about using offensive language but failed to comply and was issued an infringement.
“It will be further alleged she told police she had COVID-19, before coughing directly in the face of a female Senior Constable.”
The 39-year-old woman was charged with breaching public health orders, giving false information to police and using offensive language in a public place.
She is due to appear in Deniliquin Local Court on November 5.
