For the ninth day in a row, NSW has recorded no new cases of locally acquired COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night.
Two new cases were however reported in overseas travellers in hotel quarantine.
“One additional case has been added to the NSW total today but it is an old infection,” NSW Health said today.
“The person from Western Sydney, who is linked to an earlier case, was tested for COVID-19 on 23 October, but returned a negative result. However, subsequent serological testing, has indicated that this person previously had COVID-19, most likely earlier in October. Investigations to date have not identified any further transmission from this case.”
This brings the total number of cases in NSW to 4,309 since the start of the pandemic.
There were just 7,034 tests reported to 8pm last night, compared with 17,226 in the previous 24 hours.Â
With the weather warming up and people attending more social gatherings, NSW Health is calling on the community to maintain the COVID-safe behaviours that have been key to stopping the spread of the virus.
“NSW Health encourages all beachgoers to ‘Keep 1.5 metres (at least a beach towel length) between you’ and anyone not from the same household. If you arrive at a beach, check whether you will be able to maintain physical distancing, and if not, don’t risk it – reconsider your plans.”
“Though there have been no new locally acquired cases in NSW in recent days, now is not the time to drop our guard.
“Everyone needs to continue to be alert to the ongoing risk of transmission of COVID-19, to keep practising physical distancing and good hand hygiene, and most importantly to get tested and isolate if they feel unwell.”
