While we all wish we could click our fingers and rid the world of childhood cancer, sometimes it’s hard to know how we can truly make a difference.
But did you know that there’s a way that you can leave a legacy of hope for families impacted by a childhood cancer diagnosis?
A legacy that could last for generations to come?
Well you can. By leaving a Gift in Your Will to Children’s Cancer Institute.
There’s a wonderful saying, “not all heroes wear capes”. To us, Daphne is a true hero of children with cancer.
This extraordinary, big-hearted woman was always known for her grace and graciousness. The Manager of the David Jones hairdressing salon in Perth for decades, Daphne cared for the locks and looks of the city’s luminaries, from politicians to visiting dignitaries.
Daphne had a passion for helping children, and for growing beautiful roses. When she died, she left a percentage of her estate to help support our vital research for children with cancer. The impact of her generous donation will be felt for generations to come.
Thanks to gifts like hers, our scientists are making extraordinary progress and giving hope to families across the country. It helps us get one step closer to our vision: to save the lives of all children with cancer and improve their long-term health, through research like the Zero Childhood Cancer Program.
Originally founded in 1976 by two fathers whose children had cancer, Children’s Cancer Institute is Australia’s only independent medical research institute wholly dedicated to childhood cancer research. Over forty years later, our vision remains unchanged: To save the lives of all children with cancer and improve their long-term health, through research. By uniting world-leading laboratory researchers and clinician scientists, the Institute’s focus on translational research aims to move research discoveries from the lab bench to hospital bedsides as quickly as possible. We are dedicated to finding safer, more effective treatments with fewer side effects, and ultimately, a cure for every child with cancer.
While great progress has been made, cancer still claims more children’s lives in Australia than any other disease. Every week, three precious young lives are lost. We cannot stop, until that number is zero.
We want a future where treatments are less toxic and don’t leave children with side-effects that will stay with them for life.
And when you leave a Gift in Your Will, you will play an important part in that future becoming a reality.
