Police search for missing 4WD adventurer

Police are coordinating a search for missing 63-year-old Victorian man, Bruce Atkinson, who has disappeared while on a 4WD adventure in remote far north Queensland.

Mr Atkinson, who had been travelling in convoy with another Victorian man, was last seen around midday yesterday travelling east on Frenchman’s track, between Portland Road and Pascoe River.

“The two Victorian men were traversing Frenchman’s track, a 4WD track with high difficulty, when 63-year-old Bruce decided to turn back instead of attempting to cross the Pascoe River,” Queensland Police said in a statement today.

“Bruce made arrangements to meet up later at a campsite near the Wenlock River however he was reported missing to police after he failed to arrive last evening.”

Bruce is driving a white 2016 Toyota Prado with Victorian registration 1PT40F (pictured).

Bruce is described as Caucasian, approximately 160cms tall with a solid build and short, grey thinning hair.

Anyone who may have seen Bruce or his vehicle is urged to immediately contact police.
