AFL Masters honour for Susan Alberti

On the eve of her 75th birthday, Susan Alberti AC will be recognised for her contribution to women’s football by AFL Masters.

During the morning, the former vice-president of the Western Bulldogs – in her capacity as Patron of AFL Masters – will launch an exciting new program AFL Masters QuickKick www.QuickKick.com.au which has so far attracted more than 2,000 women across the country to sign up in the past fortnight.

“Women represented in sport means that little girls are turning up to games with their favourite female player’s number on their backs,” says Susan of the women’s AFL scene.

“Girls are training alongside boys at Aus-kick, and we are seeing more families at the stadium.”

The Program has been funded by a Sport Australia Participation Grant to increase the number of women aged 35 and over to play Australian Rules Football.

“For many in this demographic, they never had the same opportunities afforded to them as the younger women and girls of today,” AFL Masters said in a statement today.
