Local business to the rescue of pensioner’s pride and joy

Police and a local business have come to the rescue of a Cooma pensioner after her car was stolen and covered with spray paint in a senseless attack.

Police say the Jeep vehicle had been the 80-year-old’s pride and joy for many years and she relied upon it to get her around town to attend appointments.

When it was stolen, it had brought her life to a shuddering halt – but when police recovered it, there was a further shock in store for the pensioner.

“Upon been recovered, the vehicle was found to have been sprayed with paint over all over it,” Monaro Police said.

“Police at Cooma attempted to clean the paint off the vehicle but the task was bigger than they anticipated.”

Instead a local business, Summit Smash stepped in to help police with their cleaning efforts.

“Oliver and staff from Summit Smash came to the rescue,” said Monaro Police.

“They cleaned and polished the vehicle and it was returned to the owner.”

“Monaro Police District would like to thank Oliver and the team from Summit Smash for donating their time and resources so the vehicle could be returned to the owner without the worry and cost of having it repaired.”
