Congratulations to Patrick (Pat) O’Dwyer who is celebrating his 100th birthday this week.
Pat was born in Lismore, NSW.
In December 1941, Pat joined the Australian Army and was a signalman with 2 Australian Line Section based in New Guinea and Sumatra where he operated in close proximity to the Japanese.
Pat valued the companionship while serving and developed a few close friendships. He advises younger serving members to make good friends and not to ‘drink too much’.
After the war, Pat worked in retail. He now enjoys reading, sitting in the sun and listening to the radio.
Pat credits his long life to having a good family, in particular his wife and son.
Happy birthday Pat and thank you for your service. #TYFYS#OurVeterans
