Goodwin Aged Care acquires south coast facility

ACT aged care and retirement living provider, Goodwin Aged Care Services is offering its services to NSW for the first time in the organisation’s 65 year history.

Goodwin has recently acquired The Manor retirement village for Seniors in Batemans Bay on the NSW south coast.

“This is the first time in Goodwin’s 65-year history that we have offered services to the South Coast, and our first accommodation services in NSW,” said Goodwin CEO, Sue Levy.

Founded by family owner-operators Ann and Braven Howarth, Ms Levy said The Manor was a longstanding and reputable village in the Batemans Bay township and a thriving business that Goodwin was proud to be acquiring.

“We would like to acknowledge the hard work and vision of the Howarth family in making The Manor to what it is today,” said Ms Levy.

The Howarth’s son and former head of operations Richard Howarth, said the family was very pleased to hand over to Goodwin.

“The decision for us to step away from The Manor was not an easy one. However, with Ann and Braven hoping to enjoy a bit more time with the grandkids, and myself based in Canberra with a young family, the decision to hand the reins to Goodwin came at a time that made sense for all,” said Richard Howarth.

“We, and the residents of The Manor, are confident that Goodwin will bring further innovation for the village to the benefit of all residents, staff, and the community as a whole.”

As well as taking on The Manor and the care services to the assisted living apartments, in coming months Goodwin will begin offering expanded home care services to seniors living across the Eurobodalla region.

“It is Goodwin’s goal that more local seniors will have access to a greater range of options to continue to live the lifestyle they choose and continue to live independently and with dignity in the homes they love, and the community they know,” said Ms Levy.

“We are really looking forward to working with and being part of the community, continuing to employ local people to look after local people and form local partnerships to keep seniors connected.”

“I am immensely proud that Goodwin’s team has been able to continue to act on opportunities, innovate and develop even during the challenges of 2020, all the while keeping focus on the first priority: the safety and care of residents and clients.”
