Fulton family accept state funeral offer

The family of rugby league immortal Bob Fulton have accepted the NSW Government’s offer of a State Funeral.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian yesterday backflipped on an earlier rejection to offer the Fulton family a state send-off.

“Given groundswell community support, I have overruled the official advice I received and make this offer in recognition of Mr Fulton’s remarkable contribution to rugby league,” NSW Premier, Gladys Berejiklian said this morning.

“On behalf of the people of NSW, I extend my condolences to Mr Fulton’s family and friends.”

Mr Fulton died on Sunday at the age of 74 following a lengthy battle with cancer.

His son, Brett Fulton, told 2GB’s Ray Hadley that the family would accept the Premier’s offer.

“We’d like to thank Ms Berejiklian for the offer and yes, we will accept,” he said.
