Free tickets to Warnie memorial service available from 3pm today

Free tickets to a State Memorial Service to honour former Australian test cricketer, Shane Warne, will be available to book from 3pm today.

The service will be held at 7pm on Wednesday 30 March at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Free tickets can be accessed via this link: http://vic.gov.au/shane-warne

The State Memorial Service will be an opportunity for Victorians to pay tribute to Mr Warne’s contribution to his sport, to our state and the country, Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said this week.

Wednesday 30 March 2022.

Time

  • Gates open at 5.30pm.
  • The service will commence at 7pm.
  • All guests are requested to be seated by 6.45pm.
  • The service is expected to run for approximately 2 hours.

Venue

Melbourne Cricket Ground, Brunton Avenue, Richmond.

The State Memorial Service will be live streamed via this website. The link to view the live stream will be made available closer to the event.

Seating and tickets

  • The State Memorial Service will be free to attend.
  • Seating will be reserved at the Service for family, friends, dignitaries and invited guests.

COVIDSafe event requirements

This State Memorial Service will be held in line with COVIDSafe requirements and tickets are required for all guests.

All attendees must be fully vaccinated and check-in using the Service Victoria app. Victorians can share their COVID-19 digital certificate to the Service Victoria app through MyGov or the Express Medicare Plus App.

How to get there

Arriving by public transport or on foot is recommended.

Melbourne Cricket Ground can be accessed via the following public transport:

  • Train to Jolimont or Richmond stations – the stadium is a short walk across the Yarra Park from Jolimont and a slightly longer walk along Brunton Avenue from Richmond.
  • Tram routes 75, 48, 70 provide access to the MCG.
  • Bus route 246 links La Trobe University with Elsternwick Station in a useful service for patrons from the northern and southern suburbs.

Public parking will not be available, except for pass holders and accessible parking only. Street parking is very limited.

Parking and accessibility

Accessible parking is available in Yarra Park, subject to capacity. Vehicles must display a valid accessible parking permit to obtain access.

Wheelchair seating is available in all stands at the MCG. Availability is event dependent.

Donations

In lieu of flowers and at the request of Mr Warne’s family, memorial tributes can be made in the form of contributions to The Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health. To donate, visit their website.
