Former police officer, 69, charged with historical sexual assault

A 69-year-old former NSW Police officer will face court today charged with historical sexual assault offences.

Officers from Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command have been investigating reports that between 1975-1978 the man sexually abused two girls unknown to each other in separate incidents.

“On Thursday 10 December 2020, the man was charged with carnal knowledge of girl (aged between 10-16 years), and three counts of assault female and commit act of indecency (aged under 16 years),” NSW Police said in a statement.

The man was formerly a Senior Constable attached to a station in the Sydney metropolitan area.

He left the NSW Police Force in 1983, but the offences are alleged to have occurred while he was a serving police officer.

He is due to appear at Waverley Local Court today.
