Dynasty star dead 10 days after cancer diagnosis

American actor, Michael Nader, who famously played Dex Dexter, the third husband to Joan Collins’ character Alexis Carrington Colby on Dynasty throughout the 1980s, has died just days after being diagnosed with cancer.

His partner of 18 years, Jodi Lister – the couple married in 2014 – broke the sad news to fans overnight.

“We had 18 wonderful years together with the many dogs we fostered and adopted,” she said in a statement.

“Recently, Michael was so thrilled to reconnect with his friends from the cast of Dynasty during Emma Samms virtual event to help raise funds for Long-Covid research. He was a beautiful and fascinating man with many talents and skills. I will miss him forever.”

The 76-year-old screen star also spent a decade with another US soap opera, All My Children playing Dimitri Marick. His character proving so popular that his axing in 1999 led to a fan revolt.

He did return to the show but was later sacked after being arrested for selling cocaine to an undercover police officer in 2001.

“He was diagnosed with untreatable cancer on Friday [August] 13th and died 10 days later with me and his best fur friend, Storm, by his side,” wife Jodi said.

“His death and diagnosis was sudden and unexpected and I have never experienced such agony as watching my soulmate die before my eyes.

“He was loved by so many and treasured his fans and their letters and emails. He responded to them all.”

She said her husband had been planning to write a book about his life at the time of his fateful cancer diagnosis.

“He had so many talents and skills and it’s hard to imagine living life without his beautiful and wonderful presence, joy and laughter,” she said.
